"G really helped us on our journey to building awareness, as we progress on our path to creating a culture where our people feel that they belong. Thank you G!"

Why G?
Gamal Turawa doesn't talk about belonging, identity and speaking honestly from theory alone.
His work has been shaped by more than 25 years in policing, becoming the first openly gay Black police officer in the Metropolitan Police, and a lifetime of navigating what happens when identity, culture, power, belonging and authenticity collide.
His story became the BAFTA-winning film The Black Cop. But the story is not the work. It is the lens through which he has developed a deeper understanding of what helps people feel safe enough to speak, courageous enough to challenge and valued enough to contribute.
That understanding is brought to life through the Five B's of Human Connection: a practical framework for creating safety, supporting others, protecting dignity and building belonging.

The Challenge
Is it safe for me to be professionally honest here?
In organisations being reshaped by AI restructuring and relentless change, people are being asked to contribute more, adapt faster, and challenge existing thinking. Yet many are quietly asking themselves a different question “Is it safe for me to be professionally honest here?” When people fear that speaking up could damage their reputation, relationship, or career, they begin to hold back, important questions go unasked, risks remain unchallenged, good ideas stay silent, and talented people start looking for somewhere else to belong.
G helps leaders create a culture where people do not have to choose between belonging and speaking honestly. Through powerful storytelling, practical insight, and honest conversation, he helps organisations build the trust, dignity, and courage people need to challenge constructively, contribute fully, and stay connected through change. Because when people feel safe enough to tell the truth, organisations make better decisions, innovate more effectively, and become places their best people want to remain.
The Framework
The Five B's of Human Connection
Connection is built through what we create before an interaction, how we stand beside people, what we protect behind them, and the boundary expressed by Never Belittle. Belonging is the foundation on which every connection is built.
The foundation.
Belonging is more than being included. A person can be invited, employed, consulted, represented or physically present and still question whether they truly matter.
Every interaction has a history.
What experiences, assumptions or past events are shaping what happens next?
Presence is not the same as connection.
Can we listen, stay curious and remain present when the conversation becomes uncomfortable?
Values are tested when there is no audience.
What do we say, allow and challenge when the person affected is not in the room?
Challenge without diminishing.
Healthy challenge, support and curiosity need clear dignity boundaries. Accountability does not require humiliation, control or intrusion.

The Five B's Ask...
What becomes possible when we create safety before people enter, stand beside them without taking over, protect their dignity behind them, and never make a person smaller in order to challenge an idea?
Blog
"G rocked the house at MTC Be The Difference Annual Inclusion Event at London's County Hall! He’s extremely entertaining, insightful, educational and engaging. Our team of over 200 professionals didn’t want the guy to leave the stage. He’s simply that good. We’ve had many talented and impressive speakers at our event, but G ended up being at the top of our list leading the Privilege session."
